Sales Engineer

Torishima Pump is looking for an experienced Sales Engineer to sell to existing and new customers in the Power, Water, Desalination and Industrial markets. Torishima is an established global pump manufacture and a leader in design, quality & service. The Sales Engineer will need to identify opportunities, developing marketing plans, establish long-term business relationships, and achieving increased sales.

Responsibilities & Requirements:

Position Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent technical degree required.
  • Knowledge of the design and operational requirements of large multistage centrifugal pumps, and related equipment required.
  • Industrial sales experience with a track record of self-initiated, sustained sales success highly desired.
  • Must be skilled at product demonstrations, presentations, and business writing.
  • Must be computer savvy with strong skills including the ability to manipulate Google Doc’s, word processing, and presentations.
  • Maintain regular, communication with key customers in the territory. Make direct, in-person sales calls. Respond quickly and thoroughly to customers’ inquiries.
  • Achieve sales objectives, including bookings and growth.
  • Develop and implement marketing plans aligned with regional sales objectives to support larger organizational goals.
  • Must be US citizen or hold a valid US work visa.

Applications Engineer

Applications Engineer

Torishima is seeking an experienced Applications Engineer. The successful candidate must have at least 5 years experience in the pump industry, including pump hydraulic and selection experience, preferably dealing with larger pumps for power, water, and desalination markets. Experience dealing with client and customer engineers is a requirement. Please do not apply unless you meet these requirements.

The main office is located in Battle Creek, MI. Applicant can work remotely, there is expected travel which is approximately 10% of the time, usually within the United States and Canada.

Skills Required:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience in the pump industry (centrifugal pumps and associated instrumentation)
  • Must be computer literate, organized and detail-oriented
  • Proficient in appropriate computer software necessary to successfully navigate the job (i.e.Microsoft Office, Sales Leads/Tracking software, Google Docs, etc.)
  • A working knowledge of CAD preferred
  • Able to provide follow up and ensure customer satisfaction
  • Customer-service focused and teamwork-oriented
  • Coordinate with both internal and external suppliers
  • Maintain steady contact with manufacturing
  • Effective communication skills – oral, written, and presentation
  • Must be US citizen or hold valid work US work visas
